Profile and red child (M. 284). Original lithograph, 1960. 100 numbered impressions on paper with large margins plus 2000 impressions published in Chagall Lithographe I. At left, a green man with a yellow woman superimposed upon his nose appear in a night scene lit by the moon just to the left of his nose. His giant hand reaches out towards a little child clothed in red whose head, shirt, and pants are all a bright red, is passing through the deep purple and blue woods of a nightmare. A very haunting image! Image size: 325x250mm. Price: Please call or email for current pricing information.
The Couple with the blue horse (M. 993 ). Original color lithograph, 1981. 50 signed and numbered impressions with large margins plus 15,000 unsigned impressions for an Hommage à Aimé Maeght, the founder of Galerie Maeght, with which Chagall had been affiliated since 1948. Distribution of the portfolio was halted by Maeght's son Adrien after Aimé Maeght's death and it has not been regularly available. Image size: 380x278mm. The sun lower right should be less mustard-color and more yellowish; the gray background should be grayer. The blue horse is about the right shade of blue.
