The edition was originally planned to be 35, but after making a new batch of ink, the printers were unable to produce an exact match to the first 15 impressions, so they ended the edition at 15 (of which we have 2 impressions, 1/15 and 5/15). Published to accompany the deluxe edition of Graven Images 2: Studies in Culture, Law, and the Sacred dedicated to The Body and featuring several essays about Garache. Menominee I. Original color drypoint, 1997. 60 signed & numbered impressions. On one of his visits to Madison WI Garache became interested in the former inhabitants of the area, the Menominee Indians. After travelling about the area with Professor George Cramer, a sculptor and a Native American, Garache produced this drypoint and a painting called Monona, named for one of Madison's lakes, which means "Young woman." This particular image, dedicated "à Sonja à Andy / Claude / Noel 1997," is not available, and we are, alas, sold out. Image size: 299x228mm (11-1/16x9 inches). Price: NFS.
